Walking at eleven months! what a stud!

This a the first of many videos, he sort of learned to walk side-ways because that's how he practiced, he used the couch and table which taught him his crazy side-ways technique, it's kinda funny. this video doesn't do justice but he's still so cute!

A few days later I got him walking and you can see how well he's improved in just a few days. It's crazy, Now he can step over things, walk in grass and walk faster. He can bend down grab something and start walking again. He's really taking off!

This last video I took Saturday morning, and well, it describes it's self. Cute-ness.

unofficially and officially.

Helaman unofficially and officially walked this last week. Wednesday He was grabbing on my feet and I pulled away, he got mad started to cry and walked after me. But no one was there and it could been a fluke. But Saturday every body was there and he was invited to walked on his own while Gnanam, Me, and Friends were all present. We all "hoorayed" and then he wouldn't do it again. bummer. but I think he knows now he has it in him and just has try again. I don't have a video yet but we will as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Bath Time!!

This video is a few months old but still quite amusing. He loves the bath and now moves around grabbing things and splashing water, he also likes to drink the wash cloth, and throw it.

The next one is of Helaman standing and crawling. so cute!

Crawling!

Yes, not just a little bit, but seriously all over the place! It really does open up a whole new can of worms. I'm looking to the floor, checking for wrappers, bugs, whatever he can stick in his mouth and cleaning so he doesn't crawl into dirt. it's a new definition of work and he keeps me on my toes. I'm gonna post a video soon, but I have to get the internet working better.

The diet is going well, It's been too long since I posted that I'm not sure what we've lost each day and what we've cooked, but it's been a tough but exciting road and the weight is going down!

On a much more exciting note, Helaman is officially crawling, and he is a doll. the other day I saw that he was about to grab a plant, I looked at him slightly cross and with a firm voice said, "Helaman, no no, you can't have that." he paused, looked at me, looked at the plant and then reached again, "No, no Helaman you can't have that." He stopped and moved away. What a smart little boy I have. I think the Lord has truly blessed us with a sweet little angel.

Upside down, but still a start.

King Louise the beard-less boy.
S17/day 9 Shoot, I don't rememeber this far back. nor do I remember what I lost. probably less then a pound.
We cooked a slow cooker meal that was a dash too much cayenne pepper so I couldn't eat it all. lesson learned, don't add more than it says in the recipe.

M18/day 10 I don't think... okay yeah I lost this day. -1.5. their is a BIG correlation with water intake and weight loss, the more you drink the day before the more you will lose.
Chicken with tomato paste and other seasonings (Italian I think) and I used the lettuce as a wrap for a sort of tortilla affect. and veggies added to the chicken mix which when in the wrap.

T19/day 11 Tara -0 Gnanam-0
fish-tilapia dipped in lemon, seasoned with a random chef season. (that doesn't have sugar in it.)
AND I found out a lame rice substitute, I thought the recipe said cauliflower but really it said cabbage, so I followed the idea and went with it since I already started chopping. Cut cauliflower up in ity-bity rice size pieces and then with "I can't believe it's not butter (fat free) spray", spray the pan and cook the veg until it's lightly brown. I also added a bit of a my favorite season and it turned out great. Gnanam loved it.

W20/day12 Tara -1 Gnanam -3 I stared dreaming again about food i shouldn't eat, it stinks because even in my dream I feel guilty for cheating.
I made a BBQ mix, sorry you sort of have to by the mix from the peeps who make this diet stuff up but the rest was easy. (and you don't really need to use apple cider vinegar from bragg, it tastes just fine with normal vinegar.) then with the BBQ mix I grilled on the George foreman my chicken it was really yummy. I also put together a cilantro-celery-cucumber mix with some balsamic vinaigrette which wasn't so yummy. probably not a repeat.

Diet-ness

F15/ Day 7/ Gnanam -1lbs Tara -1lbs. All is well, I started to imagine food in my dreams and Gnanam needed a pep talk.
I cooked a spicy chicken soup, celery and onion with chicken and a Cajun spice (no sugar).

S16/ Day8/ Gnanam -0lbs Tara -0lbs. We talked about it and I think if we don't drink the amount of water we are supposed to (which we didn't on Friday) then we don't lose. :(
Dinner- Gnanam made a curry paste (using all the allowed products) and with cauliflower and chicken we ate good.

Your fat, your fat, you know it!

Okay, first thing. Photo bucket is having some technical issues, but assured me they are trying as best they can to fix the photo problem asap.

Second thing, We (Gnanam and I) have started a diet. I won't get into the details but I would like to keep you up dated about the progress, they say one of the best ways to have success is to record your successes and failures.

Day 1-2 (Saturday and Sunday) started eating like crazy and taking the drops. Gained 3lbs

M11 Day 3 (Monday) Low cal-high protein diet begins. Everything looked good that wasn't allowed and nothing looked good that was allowed. By night time both Gnanam and I had head aches. (I talked the Dr. and he said that is the most common side effect and should pass in a few days.) Gnanam's headache went away by morning and mine turned into a migraine that resulted in a welcome vomit followed by restful sleep.
*Cooked -Chicken in pieces with yellow neck squash in a pan with water and season all.

T12 Day 4 . Tara -2lbs, Gnanam -3lbs. The head ache was gone and although we were both still somewhat hungry, we both agreed that the first day was the worst.
*Cooked halibut fish in a pan with water and season all (I lacked creativity yet. well, I still do)

W13 Day 5. Tara -2lbs, Gnanam -3lbs. (We weigh ourselves first thing in the morning). We feel much better and I find that I'm not as tired in general. Gnanam claims he can play basket ball better.
*Cooked Beef steak using a BBQ mix (sugar free) I got especially for the diet. I also had cottage cheese for lunch instead of chicken.

T14 Day 6. Tara-0lbs, Gnanam -3lbs. I'm not sure why I didn't lose, but I'm guessing I've met my plateau, and will have to start working harder. But I'm still diligent in drinking my 8-10 8oz classes a day and taking my drops and I'm hopeful that things will pick up (or pick down if we're talking weight wise.)
*Chicken seasoned with Walden farms dressing. It's really great stuff and I'm sad I didn't discover it sooner. It's 0 cal, 0 fat, 0 sugar, 0 carbs, 0 cholesterol and gluten free. Believe it or not, Gnanam and I are sold, this stuff doesn't taste bad and we can use it to marinade anything.

(side note, I'm so proud of Gnanam, today we went to Grandma's house and brought our own food, and guess what they ate? all the best food imaginable! stuffed potatoes, honey BBQ'ed meatballs and green beans. [I seem to see food in more amazing detail now that I can't eat it] And Gnanam and I both didn't touch it, but we sure did stare a lot. :)
Stay tuned, more to come as the days go by...

Some Professional Pictures

I was teaching Helaman to army crawl when I got pleasant knock on the door from our neighbor Sarah, she asked if she could take some shots of Helaman for her photo final in a photography class she's taking. A bit later she dropped off a CD with the following pictures....

Like Father, like Son

Gnanam was watching some old French cartoons and was singing to Helaman the words, Helaman was of course interested in the noise and colors. he's turning out to be just like his Dad. :) (P.S. Gnanam finally cut his hair today, so this was his long curls, before the shave!)

Dad and Baby

The Last Days of the Year, 2010!

Our Good Friend Katie come over, she's been a great support to us, and she and her Husband moved away so I snapped a quick photo to capture the moment.

Katie

We visited Washington for Christmas Break, and we were lucky to have all the Family Home for Christmas, including my Brother Jacob and his sweet wife Suzanne, and of course a few silly pictures of the Helaman with them. I regret not having more photo's with the rest of the family but I guess they got erased. Bummer.
